Behavior Detection Officers

On the recent topic of micro-expressions

“Specially trained security personnel” will be watching passengers for “micro-expressions” that will reveal treacherous agendas and insidious intentions at airports around the country. These agents, who may literally hold your fate in their hands have been given a lofty, Orwellian name: “Behavior Detection Officers.”

Airports are torture for the impatient (me) and are not conducive to mental stability, with existing security lines, switched gates and delays.

How does one discern which pissed-off, anxious fuck trying to find their way is a menace? I’m not in a good way at airports, nor does anyone else appear to be from the behavior I’ve witnessed.

It’s not even a precise science, subject to perception. This is just odd.

Was Dali an Asshole?

Whoever wrote this article hated his ass. However, they mention some things I’d not heard about him:

  • He “suggested that the deepest way to demonstrate one’s love for another is to eat their excrement”
  • Congratulated the dictator (Francisco Franco) on political tortures and assassinations
  • Enjoyed hearing of transport disasters

It goes on to describe numerous other ways he was a pompous ass. Unsure of the validity behind the claims of the writer, but I love Salvador Dali’s work, especially his surreal, sultry portrait of Mae West.

Dead Embryonic Cells

“The president supports and encourages stem cell research, including using embryonic lines, as long as it does not involve creating, harming or destroying embryos,” Fratto said. “That is an ethical line that should not be crossed.” (Source)

This statement is contradictory in itself and means that he does NOT support embryonic stem cell research, b/c if they are not to be created or destroyed, what is it that scientists are allowed to do?

For clarification:

“during an embryo’s first few days of existence it is a blastocyst - a mass of cells that has not differentiated, and could not develop into a human being unless implanted in a mother’s womb.” (Source)

This asshole is protecting CELLS?! Yet, as governor of Texas, he was able to rationalize over 150 executions on a legal technicality. He claimed that as governor, all he could do was grant them 30 days reprieve. (Source)

It gets me riled b/c this should be a non-issue, the funding for research that a majority of Americans seem to want. Meanwhile, $2.15 billion in federal grants for religious initiatives are perfectly acceptable to this little man. WTF?!

Skinny Puppy

1st time to witness Skinny Puppy live last night. Fucking glorious! Goddamned intense! It takes something spectacular to extract me from my house and wedge me into a crowd of ppl, my aversion to this is strong.

Gut-rumbling bass, fucking loud… I wanted it even louder! ;) (Coincidentally, is why I always blow my car speakers & can’t hear shit.) I didn’t even realize my ears were ringing until I got home into silence. cEVIN Key = mad scientist let loose in sound laboratory, un-fucking-real. Cannot fathom how he does it & at that pace!

Ogre is so charismatic. Spoilers said he “hides” behind a curtain. It’s not really hiding, so much as silhouetted shadow-play, intricate designs. (I wanna figure out the logistics of that, as it would make for some neat photography.) The blood was plentiful. Uncooperative lighting pissed him off, but he went w/it, “giving it” to an offending light at one point. ;)

Wide sampling of their catalog was played, all of it excellent. Bad-ass merchandise, good quality & variety (stuff for chickies!).

Ok, here’s where I get into aesthetics, b/c as an artist I am allowed to fixate on visuals and be superficial. ;) These two are the most beautiful statuesque creatures, like the styling of Aeon Flux (cartoon), they’re fucking lovely.

Some of Ogre’s facial expressions were Hannibal Lecter-ish, cannot describe the beauty. (Disclaimer for raised eyebrows: it’s Hannibal’s intensity & demeanor I find appealing. Murder/cannibalism = not so hot.)

Went w/horror fetish extraordinaire Diana Graves, who commandeered a limo for this special occasion. Will post pictures of this on my MySpace later on.

Note for ppl seeing shows @ House of Blues: If you choke down some of their Southern-styled cooking, they let you in before those in line outside - at least, that’s what a poster there promised.

Sartre: Bad Faith & Falsehood

This part particularly strikes me:

The essence of a lie implies in fact that the liar actually is in complete possession of the truth which he is hiding. A man does not lie about what he is ignorant of; he does not lie when he spreads an error of which he himself is the dupe; he does not lie when he is mistaken.

from Being and Nothingness by Jean-Paul Sartre.

It clarifies the mechanics of deceit. Applications are limitless.

Problem of Evil

I... am the way!(Riddle of Epicurus)

If God is willing to prevent evil, but is not able to
Then He is not omnipotent.

If He is able, but not willing
Then He is malevolent.

If He is both able and willing
Then whence cometh evil?

If He is neither able nor willing
Then why call Him God?

(Source)

…and on a similar note:

Tantum religio potuit suadere malorum.
(To such heights of evil are men driven by religion.)
—LUCRETIUS, DE RERUM NATURA

“It is, after all, wholly man-made. And it does not have the confidence in its own various preachings even to allow coexistence between different faiths.”

Excerpt from ‘God is Not Great’

The article/book nails numerous fascinating and compelling concepts.

Even if you believe in the Jebus, it’s a great read, for surely you are secure in your beliefs. This would only serve to assist you in delving into it further, perhaps cement them.
