Good stuff.

Jewel and Elena Winters

This makes me happy me on so many levels:

  1. A black Labrador is rescued from the side of the road, then again from the pound, selected for her people skills to be trained into a service dog.
  2. Said service dog is helping 14-year-old Elena Winters, a primordial dwarf, live more independently.

No teenager wants to be effectively babysat as they’re all struggling for independence, but Elena was out of necessity - to keep from being trampled and help her carry things. Now her dog, Jewel, handles it all for her, even pushing elevator buttons!

  3. A dog was kept from being put to death and as a result, Elena’s quality of living has improved.

Her adoptive mom is an aspiring children’s writer, and keeps a blog. I’m always fascinated by life behind the scenes, biographies and blogs… what you can find by looking closer, to paraphrase American Beauty’s tagline.

I’m still seeing an influx of traffic from searches on primordial dwarves. I’m optimistically hoping that this is from intellectual curiosity moreso than anything else. They are far too beautiful to be made fun of.

Mystery of the One-Eyed Child

In a predictable, but still sad, update to a previous post, the baby with cyclopia in India did not survive. What is especially odd to me, is the cancer drug they’re tying into this defect was called Cyclopamine, so it’s not like the side effects were unknown. WTF?

Real-Life Werewolves

The Ramos Gomez Brothers

Another overdue post, playing ketchup (catch-up).

Victor “Larry” and Gabriel “Danny” Ramos Gomez are the fifth generation in a family, in which almost every single member has hypertrichosis

What I love about this, is that at least they aren’t terribly isolated or alone. Everyone in their family had an over-abundance of hair, until the generation following their own.

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes

Turned in my two week’s notice at work today. While I absolutely loved my function (web development & graphic design) they need someone who can work more hours than I can. School comes first and foremost. It took me so long to get there, that you bet your sweet ass it comes first. I was never entirely sure that I would ever actually get to go. Now, no one can stop me.

Therefore, you can look forward to seeing even more frequent postings of my fixations and fancies throughout. >:D I hope it comes through in my posts that I am NOT making fun of the unusual people I post of. I rather identify with them. I was talking to Angel of Malevolence about this, and she totally gets it. :) I hope it is readily apparent to everyone else out there.

I also mention this, because I’ve started to notice traffic on my site from people searching for primordial dwarves. I think they are beautiful! Unfortunately, by that same beauty, they are also forever tortured like Claudia in Interview with the Vampire. As a disclaimer, those really are not my favorite books, but the eternal child-doll concept of Claudia is apt in this instance.

On yet another tangent, I’ve read that Anne Rice is a God-Shmooker now and denounces her own vampire novels - or is this exaggerated?

20 Inches Tall

This story has been out for a few days, today is the first chance I’ve had to sit down and write. I know the image is a bit large, but it doesn’t resize well while still capturing his charm. In the 3rd photo linked, he’s dancing.

20 inches tall, weighing 10 lbs
( 2 | 3 )

Based on similarities to others, and his perfect proportion, he strikes me as an undiagnosed primordial dwarf. I think it’s a good move, to pursue the Guiness honor for “shortest in the world.” People are going to stare regardless, being the uncouth savages that they are, so he may as well parlay it into something financially rewarding.

Internal Twin

I haven’t had a chance to read anyone’s posts yet, so hopefully this isn’t redundant. I’m sure some of you haven’t seen it.

The surgeon, who was expecting to find a tumor, describes:
As he cut deeper into Bhagat’s stomach, gallons of fluid spilled out - and then something extraordinary happened.

“To my surprise and horror, I could shake hands with somebody inside,” he said. “It was a bit shocking for me.”

Sanju Bhagat was dmitted to hospital his breathing was impaired by bulk of presumed growth
His absorbed twin's hand
Hand 2

When I worked at a pathology lab, “monster tumors” (teratomas) would come through regularly, which are tumors with hair and teeth. This reminds me of those, except for those tumors are just that - tumors - not the beginning of an absorbed twin, as it is in this case.
