Procter & Gamble Moon Not Satanic

Former Procter and Gamble logo, reversed to show supposed sixes subversively worked into the beard detail.

P&G logo showing supposed sixes in the stars - a stretch at best, this was difficult to illustrate.

As if there was ever any doubt, Procter & Gamble has won $19.25M in a suit against Amway distributors who had defamed them with this rumor. For Amway, to cast aspersions is shocking to me, with THEIR secretive and cult-like meetings. They actually have to misrepresent these gatherings as a party of sorts, in order to lure unsuspecting victims into long-ass sales spiels for their MLM pipe dreams. Loons!

Personally, I never noticed this logo when it was in use, but I like it. As a logo, I probably would have simplified the lines, less swoopties and curliques because it repros like crap at smaller sizes. Also not feeling the unicorn look to the points.

I have such a crescent man-in-the-moon fetish, my only tattoo is along these lines, though in desperate need of retouching and repair.

For the topmost example, one has to reverse (horizontally flip) the image to perceive the 6’s in the hair. The 2nd one’s a real stretch, difficult to even form 6’s from. Then there are the negative connotations with the number 13, the count of stars.

Atypical Sketchings

A beautiful European mannequin, with a lovely angular, stylized face, dressed... as a cowboy?Assigned a barn, wagon and silo for the sake of perspective, done up all ominous to keep my ass interested

For me, anyhow, these are totally out of character. It’s been too long since I last posted, and I am filing these away from a Drawing course, so I figured why not show ‘em and put them to some kinda use.

Never, ever, in my life have I drawn so many Western-themed sketches. In Texas, they automatically assume you dig it. For me, it’s an exercise in discipline and self-restraint to not bludgeon myself from boredom and frustration - there’s no feeling to it, no mood, no atmosphere other than perhaps dirty and definitely stinky.

Below are some (presumably) less-smelly subjects. Click to view larger images.

Sunflowers Moping African love sculpture, Maneki Neko Cat and Double-Necked Glass Bottle African Love Sculpture Life Drawing - Masculine Life Drawing - Feminine Old Dark Small Town

The sketches where I got to use my own stuff are the ones I like best - the African sculpture bequeathed by Angelguts. I love its lines and love drawing it. In the color image where it’s present, I made use of an antique double-necked green and yellow glass bottle, Benedictine something-or-other, with wax seals. Also present is one of my favorites from Japanese culture, the Maneki Neko cat.

At least one more country sketch is forthcoming as I procrastinate on here - Willie Fucking Nelson. I’m entertained by him and his non-pretentiousness, and his music is amongst the few rare country acts I can stand (the other is Dolly Parton). Manalive, he’s difficult to draw - all craggly and Willie-like, but cute in that he’s ornery and true to himself.

Happy Birthday Kat Von D!!!

May all of your wishes come true!

Kat Von D is a hellaciously talented tattoo artist currently on the TLC show Miami Ink. She’s opening her own tattoo shop, High Voltage Tattoo soon! Creator of absolutely stunning portraits carved into flesh, which you can see here.

You can see my piece above featured prominently on the Official Kat Von D fan club on MySpace, which got me an illustrious spot in their Top 24 friends. Probably would have done a portrait of her eventually, as I totally dig feisty chickies who have their own thing going and she is fierce! This just gave me a reason.

It’s beyond my comprehension, how she creates these masterpieces on human flesh with blood gushing over her work all the while. I find Miami Ink to be a fascinating study. I love hearing the customers’ ideas, how the artists work with those concepts and placement with consideration for body contours. I love seeing them trace it out and ink it. Of course the end results are most gratifying, when the customers love it, but I am fascinated by the whole process.

Also, peep the gallery for this and other work in the Design section. Don’t forget to nab some icons too, devil chickies, mermaids and creepy dolls abound!

Long Live Free Speech!

In Celebration of Naked Lady Mudflaps’ Victory over Idiots Trying to Outlaw Them

Can you believe that Ed Ableser from Tempe actually raised this as an amendment to be tacked onto an Arizona state bill regarding truck splash guard requirements? Another Democratic Rep, perhaps plagued by her own insecurities, Theresa Ulmer of Yuma supported this foolishness.

“I personally am tired of explaining to my 11-year-old son why they (women) are depicted on mudflaps , but not all women are 36Ds. He’s very confused by that,” Ulmer said.

Lady, you have more serious issues if you feel compelled to explain all of this due to your son witnessing a a flattering silhouette of the female form. For all we know, she’s clothed, albeit snugly and form-fitting. Secondly, do you live in the land of D-cups? How does your son NOT know that women come in all shapes and sizes? This should be visably apparent.

Celebrate Free Speech and pimp out your space by DOWNLOADING (not hotlinking) these 100×100 or 50×50 pixel Icons . Linkbacks/shoutouts are most appreciated. >;) Click on Gallery » Design to view the full-sized image, all done in Illustrator and edited in Photoshop CS2.

As always, you may keep up with my antics here.

The Frankenjon Monster

Feed my Frankenstein

A higher resolution version is up in the gallery if you’d like to peep it. Green doesn’t translate well to RGB, at least not the warmer olive tones I used in the original, hence the limeyness of the final piece shown.

Oh, I get it.

Whipped this out in Adobe Illustrator CS2, my new favorite medium. I may do the rest of the Nightmare Girls portraits this way.
