Long Live Free Speech!

In Celebration of Naked Lady Mudflaps’ Victory over Idiots Trying to Outlaw Them

Can you believe that Ed Ableser from Tempe actually raised this as an amendment to be tacked onto an Arizona state bill regarding truck splash guard requirements? Another Democratic Rep, perhaps plagued by her own insecurities, Theresa Ulmer of Yuma supported this foolishness.

“I personally am tired of explaining to my 11-year-old son why they (women) are depicted on mudflaps , but not all women are 36Ds. He’s very confused by that,” Ulmer said.

Lady, you have more serious issues if you feel compelled to explain all of this due to your son witnessing a a flattering silhouette of the female form. For all we know, she’s clothed, albeit snugly and form-fitting. Secondly, do you live in the land of D-cups? How does your son NOT know that women come in all shapes and sizes? This should be visably apparent.

Celebrate Free Speech and pimp out your space by DOWNLOADING (not hotlinking) these 100×100 or 50×50 pixel Icons . Linkbacks/shoutouts are most appreciated. >;) Click on Gallery » Design to view the full-sized image, all done in Illustrator and edited in Photoshop CS2.

As always, you may keep up with my antics here.

Who Made Who

I... am the way!

Not only is this a bad-ass AC/DC song, but also a compelling question raised in this article, “Who Made Who?” Does God exist outside of our minds, meaning he created us, or did we create God?

Q: Why do humans believe in something that they’ve never seen for themselves?

A: Because it feels good. Prayer and meditation increase levels of dopamine, the brain’s pleasure hormone.

Spirituality and belief don’t have to equate to religious faith, Newberg said. The feelings of enlightenment and well-being some derive from religion can come to others through from artistic expression, nonreligious meditation, watching a beautiful sunset or listening to stirring music.

Scientists studied the areas of the brain stimulated by the activity of prayer, meditation and speaking in tongues (glossolalia) with interesting results:

  1. Both prayer and meditation showed “decreased activity in the parts of the brain that have to do with sense of self and spatial orientation — which suggests the description of oneness with God, of transcendence sometimes experienced in meditation or prayer.”
  2. Those speaking in tongues were shown not to have control over their own speech, but they were unable to locate another area of the brain as responsible for it, you can imagine the implications here.

The Center for Spirituality and the Mind is “bringing together some 20 experts from fields including medicine, pastoral care, religious studies, social work and bioethics” to explore the relationship they have demonstrated and proven via brain scanner images, and how to integrate this with treatment to complement medicinal treatments.

Little Mermaid Illustration

The Little Mermaid Statue in Copenhagen My final project for my Computer Illustration class. You can view the full version here or nab it as an icon here.

I hope to see it in person someday. Unfortunately, it may be moved further back due to people’s inability to leave things alone.

Read the Hans Christian Andersen version here, makes the fairy tale and the statue infinitely more meaningful.

Calico Cat Illustration

Mrowr? Translation: Quite Nuts, Thank You - How Are You?

The results of an assignment in my Computer Illustration class – done in Adoble Illustrator CS2 without using LiveTrace! Reminds me of my own little nut with the intensity in the eyes.

Calico cats tend to be a bit neurotic, to say the least! I’ve heard they are great hunters and barncats.

New Icons – Creepy Fairy Tale Dolls

Available in 50 x 50 pixels and 100 x 100 pixels. Feel free to edit them and do whatever.

A link to my site from yours (site, blog, profile, whatever) would be an excellent way to share your enthusiasm, should you use them.

These are my favorites:

Do Dolls Dream of Stuffed Sheep?

The Burning Eyes of Snow White

Red Riding Hood - Cyclops Crop

These are the same dolls I used in a site layout several years back, involving copious DHTML and differing monochromatic color schemes for each page. I can’t find a screen capture of it.
