I'll Swallow Your Soul!

by Angel of Malevolence. I totally dig this, she totally captured my essence. I especially like the blackened eyes peering from the darkened sockets, complimented by the undead pallor. :)

Along the horror vein, a limited number of VIP passes remain for the impending Texas Frightmare Weekend, get in while you can, the Guest List is an exciting one, for any horror fan. I nearly passed out when Sid Haig and Bill Moseley were added - as if Doug Bradley and Ken Foree were not reason enough to attend! *swoon*

In other news, Hannibal Rising opens this weekend. I find myself actually wanting to journey out to see it in theaters, instead of waiting for the DVD as I typically do.

The Frankenjon Monster

Feed my Frankenstein

A higher resolution version is up in the gallery if you’d like to peep it. Green doesn’t translate well to RGB, at least not the warmer olive tones I used in the original, hence the limeyness of the final piece shown.

Terror Personified and Preserved

What Got Her?

This is one of the most intense images I have seen, a mummified woman cowering and covering her face, contorted in terror over whatever she faced 600 years ago. Also, a mummified baby discovered at the same site reminds me of the styling for Tool’s Sober video.

Both are to be on display at the Museum of the Nation in Lima, Peru.

Goodbye Yvonne

My cherished fiend, Angel of Malevolence, broke this sad news to me:

Unmatched Beauty

Unmatched BeautyCanadian-born, Yvonne De Carlo - more widely known as Lily Munster - died on Monday, January 8th, 2007.

Abandoned by her father at 3, her mother worked as a waitress to support them. She encouraged her lively and entertaining child, who often staged impromptu neighborhood plays, with dance lessons. They moved to Hollywood when she was 15 to pursue fame, then back to Canada, returning in later years where she did achieve notoriety.

I would love to find a copy of this movie, American Gothic, one of her later movies about a lunatic family.

Haunted Headless Ghost Painting

Haunted Painting of the Headless Ghost Photo on which the painting was based

I’ve not seen this one before but this painting was based on the photograph and supposedly a string of unfortunate consequences begat those with the misfortune to possess it. Read the rest here.

Shown at left is a close-up on the area of interest from the painting. Click on it to see the entire painting. At right, the original photo of the Headless Man taken in Arizona. Click on it to visit the site, essentially it’s a double exposure with an inexplicable human-like image in it.

See the other infamous haunted painting here.

Die Die My Darling - Chamber of Chills

Chamber of ChillsMisfits, Die Die my darling

Some of my all-time favorite imagery, once again derived from comic books, the most unappreciated often misappropriated lowbrow artform.

The infamous Misfits “Die Die My Darling” artwork is from an issue of an old Marvel comic, Chamber of Chills, sans cigarette. The artist in me hopes that the original artist was somehow compensated for usage, the realist in me doubts it.

I would love to get my hands on these comics, for the artwork alone. It looks like Marvel’s attempt to mimic EC Comics, originator of Tales from the Crypt, Haunt of Fear and Vault of Terror. If the stories are comparable, then I absolutely require these! *covets*
