The Dove Foundation Fanatics

False religion exerts influence over the kings of the earthExempt from the Do Not Call list exemptions because they operate under the guise of a charity, these assholes harrass people unmercifully, calling repeatedly, showing up as “Out of Area - 1 (800) 679-0336″ and WILL NOT CEASE until they have harrassed a live person into answering.

Feel free to take their opinion poll as here is what they are claiming:

Never before has an opinion poll been taken of such a large number of people. No one will be able to argue with the results once we reach a critical mass of responses. We will present our findings to the studio heads, and to the national media. This is sure to make headlines in the news. That is why your participation is so important!

Here is their line of questioning:

Q: Do you believe that offensive material in TV, Movies & the Internet is on the rise?
My A: No, but I wish it were. I LOVE it! Supply & Demand, bitches. That which people want, is produced. The end.

Q: Do you feel helpless to change what is being produced?
My A: Uhh *straining from effort* Can’t change channel or avert eyes!!! The Evil™ is too powerful!!! Morons. WTF kind of question is this?

Q: Do you want to see more wholesome family entertainment made?
My A: HELL NO! I get pissed when a horror movie that looks good is rated PG13, because it means it will be too tame. Don’t punish me entertainment-wise because YOU need watered-down content for your kids.

Q: If more was made, would you make an effort to watch & support it?
My A: See above.

Q: What type of content bothers you most? Nudity, Profanity, Violence, None, Not Sure.
My A: Guess which one I picked? NONE! Somehow, I am able to refrain from watching shows I hate. Otherwise, what bothers me is that there isn’t nearly enough nudity, profanity and violence on TV - even cable!

Q: Do you think that movie ratings have gotten more lenient or do you trust them? Too Lenient, I Trust Them, Not Sure
My A: I think the MPAA has gone overboard b/c of zealots like these. The ratings indicate recommended ages and spell out the potentially offensive content below: Contains Nudity, Violence, Adult Situations, Drugs, etc. Which part aren’t you getting?
Besides, there were far more tits and ass in the 70’s and 80’s movies than there is now! Movies are far more tame today, though the gore has gotten better. Maybe your ass shouldn’t take your young’uns to the horror show, eh?

Get out of her, my peopleToday’s tirade is brought to you by a Jehovah’s Witness pamphlet (See illustrations, which I really like, just not their context) that was wedged in our door, pissing me off further that people feel it is their calling to force their god upon people instead of better, more productive things they could be doing instead.

On another blasphemelicious note, I HIGHLY recommend this movie: The God That Wasn’t There It is very good, not unfairly slanted and incredibly thought-provoking.

Mutilated Christ Offensive in India

Doest Thou Offend?Shown at right is the CD cover for Slayer’s newest release, “Christ Illusion,” which has been banned in India. This is surprising, because a) There is a market for Slayer in India. b) India is mostly Hindu, why are they offended by a so-called “mutilated christ?”

Slayer has been accused in the past of utilizing Satanic symbols more for marketing than out of true personal beliefs. If this is the case, they win from the publicity garnered by this BBC article.

Personally, I like Slayer and find nothing offensive about this. Even if I did, then perhaps I would refrain from buying said CD instead of making a fuss over something so innocuous. This is trivial in the grand scale of problems faced by India.

The band wound up putting a white mask over the offending artwork, so that it is only partially seen through cut-outs of the logotype spelling the band’s name.

Get this shit:

EMI India said it withdrew the albums and destroyed them so no community would be offended by the material.

Thank goodness people are being protected from Slayer! I find them to be a problem on a daily basis and my every waking thought is consumed by this band and the havoc they wreak. Hopefully, you’ll note the sarcasm dripping from the preceeding sentence. ;)

All Slayer artwork is done by artist, Larry Carroll.

Big thanks to Angel of Malevolence, the Metal Mistress, for digging up the artist to credit, something the articles neglected to do (for shame!).

Disposable Teens

This article details a woman going through the effort of un-adopting a boy.

I’m not getting on her for wanting to be rid of him. He had molested other children in the neighborhood, as he had been, himself. It was withheld from her that the child had a horde of mental afflications resulting from parents that abused drugs, alcohol and him.

My point in posting this is to harrangue the pro-life extremists. This kid has had and will continue to have a miserable life - past, present and future. What does he have to look forward to now? Some people ought not have pups.

Where are the people with all the free time to march and protest birth control and abortions, who think that no life should be thrown away? Does that only apply to cute and unspoiled fetuses, who haven’t been damaged by life?

On Rene Magritte

One of my favorite artists. I’d forgotten how profoundly trauma inspired his paintings. At the age of 14, he saw his mother’s body retreived from the nearby river, a suicide, her nightgown pulled over her head, obscuring her face.

Georgette and Rene MagritteAdditionally, every nude female form in his work was based specifically on his own wife, never anyone else. This is obvious when you see pictures of Georgette Magritte in comparison. I only wish I had a full body shot of her, better demonstrating this.

It seems limiting, to only portray a single female form, but speaks volumes of his love for her, now immortal.

On a sidenote, if you see the movie Dellamorte Dellamore / Cemetary Man, there is a steamy scene based on “The Lovers” painting shown at top. I highly recommend it on many levels: Gnaghi (I love him!), absurdism, sensuality, surrealism, gore and humor.

Teacher fired b/c students saw art at a museum

This infuriates me. Livid. What makes it worse, is that it’s in the North Texas area where I am ashamed to live.

The trigger? A 5th grade student on a field trip to the Dallas Museum of Art saw *gasp* a nude sculpture.

One parent complained.

You have to ask yourself where we are headed as a nation. The parents authorized the field trip via permission slips. We see violence everywhere around us and ppl are soiling their undies over uncovered sculptural flesh?!

Don’t get me wrong, I’m down with brutal lowbrow media too, but comparitively speaking on the ol’ pants-shittin’-meter… I see no cause for alarm, other than the heightened level of denial and repression we’re passing onto our kids.

I would love to see a study correlating geographic areas, educational levels, sexual openess vs. the level of violent or sexual crimes in the more ignorant repressed areas. I’m particularly interested in Europe’s statistics, where flesh is not a source of guilt and shame - I imagine the figures would be lower.
